What does this service provide?
Who we are
We are a team of occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants, with specialist skills across a range of clinical specialisms, including postural management, assistive technology, specialist seating and equipment, electronic assistive technology, and upper limb splinting.
We work with our colleagues in therapies, nursing, medicine, clinical sciences, and engineering to offer a holistic and considered approach to our patients’ complex clinical needs.
What we do
We work with children and young people with complex neurodisability who experience limitations and/or barriers to their functional independence, participation, and engagement with day-to-day activities. We assess and provide bespoke treatment programmes, equipment, and solutions to ensure that each child and young person can participate in all aspects of their lives.
Assessments take place at the relevant clinic at Chailey Clinical Services including:
- activities of daily living
- acquired brain injury clinic
- assistive technology clinic
- functional vision
- movement clinic
- posture clinic
- SCAMP
- upper limb clinic
In addition to our outpatient clinics and rehabilitation services, we also work directly with children and young people who attend Chailey Heritage Foundation School and Residential Care, providing integrated care with education, social care, and health professionals.
