On Sunday 7 May, Dr Vivek Patil who is our Deputy Chief Medical Officer, took part in the Brighton Bungee Jump. The jump took place at the Octagon in Brighton Marina.

Vivek said “This was something that I had in my mind to do for a long time. When I was asked if I can do it for Sussex Community NHS Charity, there was no way I was going to miss this opportunity. I decided to take part for two reasons, to conquer my own fear and to raise money for a noble cause.

As I saw other people taken upwards by the crane, I was bit anxious! When I stood on the platform and looked down that was frightening for a second but it was a good clear day and there was a very beautiful view of the sea on one side and Brighton on the other side. I didn't think much at this point, took a deep breath and just jumped!

Once I had completed the jump, I felt thrilled and a massive adrenaline rush which lasted the rest of the day. It was an amazing experience and I would recommend it!”

About the charity

Sussex Community NHS Charity are the official charity of Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust is the largest provider of community NHS health care across Sussex. Our expert teams provide essential medical, nursing and therapeutic care to adults, children and families - serving a population of 1.3 million people and caring for 9,000 people every single day.

Together with the kind support of the community, the Charity raises funds to provide the Trust with grants to cover the costs of projects which go above and beyond what the NHS core funding provides for.
