Launch of Health for Under 5s website

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) is today (Monday 5 September) launching local area pages on a popular health and wellbeing website aimed at prospective and current parents and carers of children under five years old in Brighton & Hove and West Sussex.

The launch of the Health for Under 5s website follows the successful launch of the Brighton & Hove and West Sussex local area pages on the Health for Kids and Health for Teens websites earlier this year. The website is designed to provide information about pregnancy health and the health needs of children under five to provide support during those initial formative years.

The content is designed to be easy to understand with the tone of having a ‘chat’ with your health visitor. Featuring numerous articles, it offers health advice “for healthy, happy early years” with support from trusted NHS professionals.

Seven key sections provide health information in child development stages from pregnancy through to baby, toddler and pre-school, as well as specific advice for parents’ and carers’ own health and wellbeing. Parents and carers can also access local support, news and events on the site.

The website is easy to use, offers a read-aloud function for people with visual and/or hearing disabilities, and can be accessed on smartphones.

Vanessa Sharp, General Manager for the Trust’s Healthy Child Programme, said:

“We hope that parents or carers, and parents and carers to be, will use this new website and come to regard it as a trusted and reliable source of online help and information on their own health and wellbeing, and that of their child.”

All of the Health Websites have been developed by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and SCFT has worked closely with them to develop local versions which contain lots of useful information specific to services and support in West Sussex and Brighton & Hove.
