Hundreds more patients to be helped by opening of Bognor's second X-ray machine

Date: 12 January 2022

Hundreds more patients who need X-rays will be helped by the opening of a second machine at Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital.

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT), the main provider of NHS community services in the area, has installed the new facility (pictured below) in a former ultrasound room at the hospital.

There is already one machine at the Shripney Road site, which is in high demand. The second machine will help more patients and ease waiting times.

SCFT has employed more radiographers to run the new X-ray machine which, when running at full capacity with the first machine, should provide more than 2,000 images per month.

SCFT’s Chief Nurse Donna Lamb said: “I’m delighted we have been able to invest in this new machine which will support patients from across West Sussex and beyond.

“The new facility will also enable us to support our local acute hospitals, relieving some pressure on their X-ray facilities.”

*The X-ray service is currently only accepting referred rather than walk-in patients due to COVID-19.
