SCFT is excited have launched a new health app library for the people of Sussex. The library will all you to make informed and safe choices about the apps you download to support your health and can be easily accessed on your smart phone.

Apps, we use them every day. We have apps to do our shopping, tell us what the weather is going to be and when we can catch a bus. But when it comes to our health and wellbeing, things get a bit more serious. Choosing an app to support us making healthy choices is a bit of a minefield – how do we know we can trust what they say? How do we know our data will be kept safe?

SCFT has partnered with ORCHA, an online app library, to help makes things a bit easier when finding an app to support your health needs.

Before an app can be published on ORCHA, it has to be assessed against 350 different criteria that look at things such as:

  • How safely it deals with your data.
  • Whether there is good evidence that the information in it is accurate and up to date.
  • How easy it is to use.

Only once the app scores at least 65% can it be included in the library. Even then, when you are searching, the site will tell you exactly how a particular app scored in the various domains, so you can make an informed choice about whether you wish to download it or not.

The library is free to access across Sussex and can be found here.
