Our End of Life Service is looking for helpers to sew brightly coloured washable bags that will support our patients living with cancer, and other health conditions, who require a syringe driver.

A syringe driver is a small pump, around the size of a pencil case, that delivers a continuous dose of pain medication.

The bag created will hold the pump and case, enabling these patients to move about more easily and covering the clinical-looking drivers with cheerful fabric. It will allow the person to be mobile for as long as possible and provides freedom and independence when they wish to go out. By using a washable fabric, this allows the patient to use the bag again and again in a safe way.

Lisa O’Hara, Nurse Consultant Palliative and End of Life Care, said: “This would make the world of difference to our patients, families, and carers and SCFT would be very grateful as would our patients.”
