Staff at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) are preparing for a daring adventure on Tuesday 10 October, which is World Mental Health Day.

Mike Jennings, Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer, Diarmaid Crean, Chief Digital and Technology Officer, Chrstine Rowe, Senior Dental Officer, Holly Howell, Executive Assistant and Sheila Doughty, Respiratory Pathway Lead – PCASS, are all set to abseil from the iconic Brighton i360 monument to raise vital funds for Sussex Community NHS Charity.

Our fearless five healthcare professionals are not only supporting an essential cause, but they are also celebrating an impressive milestone, as this year marks the 75th anniversary of the NHS.

When you combine the years of dedicated service from our staff taking part, the total adds up to more than an incredible 75 years of service!

Mike Jennings said, “I have wanted to raise money for Sussex Community NHS Charity through a fundraising event for some time because of the fantastic things that have been enabled through charitable funding in the past.

"The i360 abseil looked like it was a real challenge, something that would push me right out of my comfort zone, and also eye-catching enough to help me raise plenty of money for the charity. Currently, I’m trying not to think too much about the moment I have to step out into thin air.”

Charitable contributions can have a huge impact on healthcare services and patient experiences. You can show your support to enhance patient care in your local community, and give our participants a virtual cheer, by donating to the JustGiving campaign.

Diarmaid Creen said, “I am really looking forward to abseiling out of the i360 to raise money for our SCFT charity to improve the experience of our patients and staff.

"I have been in the i360 before, and while it is loads of fun going up, coming down is a bit dull, so this should solve that problem!”

As the team prepares to take the leap, they invite the community to join them in their mission to support mental health initiatives and enhance the healthcare journey for patients and dedicated healthcare staff.

Friends and family are encouraged to gather at the Brighton i360 observation tower on Tuesday 10 October to cheer on these brave individuals and celebrate their commitment to an important cause.
