Family Nurse Partnership
West Sussex

The team of family nurses aim to provide support to first time young parents who deserve it most. Family Nurse Partnership is a free and voluntary programme for vulnerable, young parents expecting their first baby.

The specially trained family nurses help young parents understand all about their pregnancy, how to care well for themselves and their baby, and provide information in the following areas:

  • Having a healthy pregnancy.
  • Planning for the labour and baby’s birth.
  • The child’s health and development.
  • Building a positive relationship with their baby and others.
  • Help them with lifestyle choices that will give their child the best possible start in life.
  • Identifying and achieving their goals; such as finding a job or returning to education when they are ready.
  • Regular home visits from their family nurse starting in pregnancy.

The Family Nurse Partnership programme will usually last until the child’s 1st birthday, with the possibility of longer if needed; but no longer than the child’s 2nd birthday

We know dads are important to their baby, so we welcome dads or partners to join in the visits if clients would like them to.
