Team Lead – North Cissbury Local Community Network

Dev started in the NHS in 2011 after he studied Physiotherapy for seven years and completing a Masters. He trained to become a physiotherapist and started out as a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant working in Bristol. Passionate about becoming a physio, Dev worked around the NHS to progress in his career. He progressed though Band 3 rehabilitation assistant, Band 4 position at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ and Band 5 rotations before progressing to Band 6 in SCFT in 2013.

Dev’s ambition was always to get a thorough clinical background and then to move into management. He started a position at Sussex Community at Band 6 working in the community at Crawley and Horsham. This provided Dev is vital experience and lots of learning, enabling him to bridge the gap between clinical practice and management. He accessed a wealth of training and support available to staff. He attended in-house leadership conferences, stress management training and development courses through NHS Elect. In 2016 Dev was successfully promoted as a Team Lead.

What Dev loves about the NHS

The mindset – the priority is always providing the best care possible – this is the way healthcare should be.

The NHS is unique – it is a great achievement and not replicated anywhere else in the world. “It’s like a Swiss watch – there are lots of little parts that all work together efficiently in sequence to provide a national service.”
