What is Seaside View Child Development Centre

The Seaside View Child Development Centre is where children in Brighton and Hove with concerns about their development are assessed and where health professionals such as paediatricians, nurses and therapists work together to support and treat your child.

We see children with many different conditions, for example, children with a delay in development, possible autism, cerebral palsy, genetic disorders and other syndromes that affect development.

We offer:

  • Assessment, which may include investigation, diagnosis and treatment and early intervention based on a child and family’s individual needs
  • A flexible and responsive service committed to working in partnership with parents/carers and children and young people
  • High quality information and support to plan together with families to meet their needs

This is where many children are diagnosed and where health professionals such as paediatricians and therapists work together to support and treat your child.

Who is in the team?

How to access the service

What happens when a child is referred?

All referrals are considered and may be discussed at a multidisciplinary panel to see if we are the right service to see your child. We will send you a letter explaining the outcome and how the service may be able to help.

We may decide that a particular team member needs to see your child, for example a physiotherapist or paediatrician, or we may suggest assessment by several professionals at the same time.

The aim of an assessment is to understand your child’s needs so that appropriate support can be offered to enable your child to reach his or her full potential.

How long does it take to get an assessment?

Our aim is that children will be seen within 18 weeks of a referral, although many children are seen more quickly.

How to access

Parents and carers can ask any professional who knows their child to complete a referral form and send it to the team at Seaside View. If your child is in nursery or school, we may ask if we can find out how your child is functioning at nursery or school.
