Child Development Centre - Crawley and Horsham

The Crawley Child Development Centre (CDC) provides a multi-disciplinary service for children from birth to 19 years of age. We offer at team approach in partnership with parents, for assessment, diagnosis and ongoing treatment as appropriate.Our team consists of

The Child Development Centre have a team of specialists who provide help for children with difficulties such as:

  • Developmental disorder
  • Epilepsy
  • Cerebral Palsy, including Botox treatment
  • Neuromuscular problems
  • Chronic neurological problems
  • Learning difficulties
  • Genetic / chromosomal disorders
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • Severe feeding difficulties
  • Sensory problems
  • Language problems
  • Severe coordination problems
  • Complex incontinence

  • How To Access:

    Parents and carers can ask any health professional who knows their child to complete a referral form and send it in to the Child Development team.

    Usually the GP, School Nurse or Health Visitor will refer a child, with the parents' permission. We can arrange for an interpreter or translator to attend the appointment, if required, provided prior notice has been received. Our department is in a public area and we would ask that you kindly supervise your children at all times during your visit. We link closely with a wide range of other teams and agencies in the area who work with children and families to support children's needs.

    All information given will be treated as confidential, however it is normal practice for staff at the Child Development Centre to share information with professional colleagues who may be able to assist in the correct advice for your child. If you do not wish this to happen, please let us know. If you child needs urgent medical attention, you should contact your GP, ring NHS Direct on 0845 4647 or dial 999 in an emergency.

    The Child Development Centre is based on the 1st Floor, Green Wing, Crawley Hospital, West Green Drive, Crawley, West Sussex RH11 7DH

    Children are seen in the Child Development Centre and also in their schools occasionally.

    Buses for Crawley Hospital - there is a bus stop situated in West Green Drive, outside Crawley Hospital.

    Bus Routes 1,2 536 and 527Car parking is very limited at Crawley Hospital. The pay and display car park costs £1.20 per hour. There is on-street car parking outside the hospital, along West Green Drive, and other nearby roads. This costs 60p per hour up to a maximum of three hours. The hospital is only five minutes' walk from a multi-storey pay and display car park 'Orchard Street' at the junction of West Green Drive and Pegler Way.
