Podiatric Surgery
Podiatric surgery is a specialist form of foot surgery performed by Podiatric Surgeons. For this service, podiatric surgery is performed using local anaesthetic and undertaken on a day-care basis (with the patient going home on the day of the operation).
Common Conditions treated by a Podiatric Surgeon:
- Bunions
- Toe deformities
- Painful joint conditions/arthritis
- Soft tissue lumps and bumps
- Forefoot pain
- Morton's neuroma
- Persistent ingrown toenails
Inclusion criteria
- 16 years and over
- Registered with a GP within Sussex.
Exclusion criteria
- Patients requiring general anaesthetic should be referred to Orthopaedics if this is required
- Patients should therefore be carefully selected and pre-operative advice given
- Mechanical dysfunctions such as flat feet should be referred to Podiatry in the first instance
- Chronic diabetic foot conditions should be referred to the Podiatry Department

Travelling by Public Transport
The Sidney West Centre is within half a mile of Wivelsfield Railway Station, and just under a mile from Burgess Hill Railway Station. Taxis are available from Burgess Hill station, and local bus services operate as follows:
From Wivelsfield Station - Bus 33 (operated by Countryliner Coach Hire Ltd) departs from outside the station - direction 'Hurstpierpoint, Willow Way'. The nearest bus stop is outside The Windmill public house - continue to walk along Leylands Road to the Sidney West Centre (approx. 5-10 minutes).
From Burgess Hill Station - Turn left outside the station and walk down the hill to Church Road (approx. 5 minutes). Bus 34 (operated by Countryliner Coach Hire Ltd) departs from outside the shops - direction 'Burgess Hill, Church Road', and stops directly outside the Sidney West Centre.
