See information about the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).
We treat most injuries or illnesses that are urgent but not life threatening. For example sprains and strains, broken bones, minor burns and scalds, minor head and eye injuries, bites and stings. You do not need to book an appointment - just turn up and you will be seen by either a doctor or nurse.
We provide an initial assessment and treatment of patients who would benefit from immediate care to improve their symptoms and reduce the need for an admission into an acute hospital. We refer patients onto the specialist team who require accident and emergency (A&E) care or speciality care.
There are other healthcare services co-located within the UTC including the "Out of Hours GP Service" provided by IC24 and a Clinical Assessment Unit provided by Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.
All patients are booked in on arrival and assessed by a nurse. During assessment/triage a range of questions are asked to aid clinical management and prioritisation to ensure patients with the highest needs are seen first. During triage patients may be advised:
We are not an A&E department.
