Living a life that is free from harm and abuse is a fundamental right of every person and an essential requirement for health and wellbeing. Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) is committed to ensuring that all its patients and clients are safeguarded against abuse and neglect, and SCFT works in collaboration with other agencies to ensure adults are appropriately safeguarded. All staff are responsible for preventing abuse and neglect by raising any concerns they have. Abuse and neglect may be prevented if concerns are identified and raised as early as possible, therefore it is important that everyone knows what to look for and who they can go to for advice and support.
What to do if you suspect adult abuse or neglect:
If you think someone is suffering from abuse or neglect, or you have witnessed abuse or neglect, you should raise an adult safeguarding concern with the relevant Local Authority.
