What does this service provide?
Who we are
We are a team of consultants specialising in rehabilitation medicine providing a neuro rehabilitation outpatients service. We help people aged over 16 years old with needs arising from long-term complex neurological conditions such as acquired brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), Cerebral Palsy and Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
Our service supports the post-acute inpatient neuro rehabilitation service at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath (PRH) and the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team (CNRT).
What we do
We are here to help patients to do the following:
- maximise their function and independence
- promote their physical and emotional well-being
- prevent or manage any secondary complications such as contractures (extreme stiffness of muscles, joints, or connective tissue), spasticity, and skin breakdown
- contribute to the reduction of hospital stays and prevention of unplanned admissions through our specialist advice and services
During your appointment, your symptoms will be assessed, which may include a physical examination. Our consultant will then liaise with you on the next steps. Treatment may include medication changes, botulinum toxin therapy and/or orthotics provision.
