As a former nurse, a volunteer with the West Sussex Healthwatch and a member of my GP surgery's Patients' Participation Group (PPG), I have a passion for healthcare.
My experience in all three roles has demonstrated the need for local involvement in the development and management of healthcare provision.
Having spent my adult life in Horsham and raised a family here, I welcome the opportunity to represent the local community as a public governor of the Trust.
I hope the following experience will assist me in this role:
- a lifetime career as a nurse
- knowledge of all of the Trust's West Sussex sites
- 28 years at Horsham Hospital ending as a Senior Sister in Outpatients
- I sit on the Trust's Patient Experience Group as a Healthwatch representative and I am part of the Patient Information Leaflet Reading Group
- I have been a very active member of the Patient Led Assessment of Care and the Environment (PLACE) team having inspected all of the Trust's West Sussex hospital sites
- I have assisted the Trust's food tendering process by tasting the menus of the shortlisted providers
