Fundraising

The Friends raise funds with the help of many local organisations and their team of dedicated volunteers. Many local people have also been kind enough to leave the Friends a legacy in their Will. These, together with donations from grateful patients and relatives help to support the hospital's major development projects.

Projects the Friends have supported include:

  • Four hearing systems
  • Bladder scanner trolley
  • Overbed tables for Harland Ward
  • Reminiscence/ rehabilitation and interactive therapy activities system for patients with dementia

Grant application guidance

At the Uckfield Community Hospital League of Friends Committee meeting held every two months, consideration is given to applications from staff for equipment/projects that will enhance the care given to patients in their care.  Equipment should be in addition to that provided by the NHS and agreed with your Head of Service.

It is suggested that the following points need to be considered on your application and as much information provided as possible.

  • Background to why it is needed
  • What is the item that is required?
  • How frequently would it be used?
  • Examples of the benefits that this would bring eg examples of the patient's experiences
  • Pictures, video etc of the equipment and what it does, how it is used
  • Price or quotation including and excluding VAT
  • If the cost is large, then details of any other funding that may be used to supplement this e.g. joint funding from Eastbourne Hospital
  • Please make your application detailed and easy to read. Jargon needs explanation and no abbreviations
  • Please note any maintenance requirements and costs are to be met by the service

Applications for items to be considered to be sent to Elaine Mitchell, Level 3, Uckfield Hospital.
