July Volunteer Focus

Milk! Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteer

I'm Clare Elder, and I have been a Milk! Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteer for over a year. I attend a weekly drop in session held at The Needles Children and Family Centre in Horsham which is aimed at providing support and advice to breastfeeding Mums and their families.

As a Peer Supporter I attended a 12 week course run by the fantastic Milk! Infant Feeding Team, providing me with lots of breastfeeding information so I am able to help support Mums who come along to the session.

Volunteering at Milk! has been such an enjoyable and rewarding experience, and I have felt very privileged to have been able to offer some help to breastfeeding Mums in what can be a very emotional time.

Through my volunteering experience I have realised how much I have enjoyed working with and supporting families, and have been able to secure a job within the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust in a Community Nursery Nurse role.
