Edna, Ward Helper & Margaret, Meet and Greet Volunteer

volunteer focus

Edna and Margaret knew each other previous to volunteering at Uckfield Community Hospital but their volunteering has strengthened their great friendship, especially as they both volunteer twice a week on the same days and so are able to car share.

Edna: I have volunteered for 20 years now, and enjoy the company I get from volunteering, and the fact that it gets me out of the house. I enjoy doing something worthwhile, and think that volunteering is really good as I am doing something I really like, and have to be committed.

Dawn, Ward Manager: Edna is a walking advert for the benefits of giving something back/volunteering. She has been an invaluable member of our volunteer team for many years and is still going strong!

Margaret: I love volunteering and have done it for nearly 8 years now. I really enjoy speaking and helping lots of different people. I also enjoy being able to help patients feel at ease when they visit the hospital. It is definitely better than sitting at home!

Elaine, Ward Administrator: Margaret has volunteered on the front desk at Uckfield for many years, meeting and greeting patients and visitors alike with courtesy and a friendly smile. Softly spoken and with a welcoming and approachable manner, Margaret is always willing to help in any way she can and is a real asset to our Community Hospital.
