What does this service provide?

Who we are

We are a team of Specialist Nurses and Specialist Early Years Practitioners. 

What we do

Following tier one work with the Healthy Child Programme (Health Visitor or School Nurse), we work directly with parents to empower them to further understand their child’s difficulties and how best to support their development. 

We aim to promote resilience, confidence and knowledge, considering the impact of the child’s needs on the whole family.

We are a flexible and responsive service committed to working in partnership with parent /carers and children. We also work closely with Education, Childrens Services and Voluntary services. We offer a range of services including: 

  • post-diagnosis support for parents and carers, following diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Condition for your child
  • emotional support for parents and carers 
  • advice via our responsive but not acute email signposting service:
  • tier two sleep support and behaviour management 
  • facilitating Exploring Autism courses for parents, for children aged under and over 6 years old 
  • groups for pre-school children 
  • individual play sessions 
  • contributing to assessment at panel 
  • assessing referrals into Seaside View Child Development Centre from colleagues 
  • education and training for parent carers and the Healthy Child Programme

Appointment types 

We offer individual and group appointments. Our appointments are either face to face or via telephone or video call. 

Follow-up and onward referrals will be made as and when required.

You'll see our Specialist Nursing Team made up of Specialist Nurses and Specialist Early Years Practitioners. 


How can I access this service?

If you feel you or your child would benefit from specialist nursing, please speak to a professional who works closely with them, such as a paediatrician, health visitor or school nurse.

Our referral criteria for sleep support is:

Completion of Tier 1 work and one of the following: 

  • child has significant neurodevelopmental difficulties, not Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and is under 12 years old 

or

  • child has a syndrome and is under 19 years old 

and

  • child has a Child Development Centre Paediatrician or has had a Child Development Centre Paediatrician within the last year. 
     

Our referral criteria for behavioural support are: 

 
Completion of Tier 1 work and one of the following criteria: 

  • child has significant neurodevelopmental difficulties (not ADHD) and is under 12 years old 

or

  • child has syndrome and is under 19 years old 

and

  • child has a Child Development Centre Paediatrician within the last year
