Snowdrop Care at home Team (Community Children's Nursing Service West Sussex)

We are a specialist Community nursing service for children. We believe that children have the right to be cared for at home whenever possible This is best achieved by working in partnership with the child and family or carers.

We are qualified childrens nurses with a range of skills and expertise, providing advice and care reflecting the spectrum of nursing needs required by children and their families including:

  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Cardiac Conditions
  • Oncology
  • Palliative care
  • Oxygen dependency
  • Allergy
  • Eczema
  • Asthma
  • Complex needs

We also provide a general service including:

  • Orthopaedic follow-up care
  • Wound care
  • Enteral feeding
  • Bowel management
  • Renal/hepatic disease management
  • Drug therapy at home
  • Venepuncture

There is also a Counselling and bereavement service for Palliative care.

We are also able to provide equipment required for some conditions.

Family Volunteers at the Sussex Snowdrop Trust are part of the team, providing support for families where a child has a life threatening illness. This entails support with the siblings of families, transport for hospital appointments and supporting the Care at Home Team.

  • How To Access:
    We receive referrals in writing from all health care and allied professionals. We see any child with an identified nursing need. We do not provide an emergency service.

  • Opening Hours:
    Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm (excluding bank holidays).
    An on-call service is available for end of life.
  • How to find us:
    We are located in the rear of the Child Deveopment Centre on Westhampnett road just off the A27. There is limited parking available on the site.Please report to the main reception of CDC on arrival.
