What does this service provide?

What we do

We provide and support the delivery of IV therapy within a clinic setting or within patient’s homes. The aim of our service is also to reduce hospital admissions by developing and delivering community IV pathways

We also:

  • provide training and support for patients and carers wanting to self-administer IV therapy within a community setting
  • provide advice and support for patients requiring IV therapy within the community
  • deliver intravenous antibiotics
  • provide care and support for patients with Central Venous Access devices
  • support with disconnection of IV chemotherapy delivery devices

Appointment information

Clinic appointments are offered for non-housebound patients requiring care and support with Central Venous Access Devices and/or Chemotherapy delivery device removal. Home visits are available for those requiring administration of IV Antibiotics and for housebound patients unable to attend clinic appointments.

Home visits are carried out across Brighton and Hove and West Sussex, and clinics are held Monday to Friday. The service user will be advised as to where the clinic appointment will be or if a home visit will be arranged.

How can I access this service?

Our service is for people over 18 who are registered with a GP in Brighton and Hove or West Sussex.

Service users with an established Central Venous Access Device or who require administration over 7 days can be referred to the service.

Referrals are made via GPs to help avoid hospital admission and from hospital staff discharging patients into our service for IV therapy.

You will be given a contact number that can be used once receiving care if you need to discuss your care or have any additional needs.
