Voluntary Services shortlisted for three awards

We are excited to announce that our SCFT Voluntary Services team has been nominated for not one, not two, but three national awards!
The Helpforce Champions Awards 2022, provide national recognition for the fantastic contribution to volunteering in the health and care sector.
The awards are a chance to shine a light on those who give their time to help staff in the NHS and voluntary and community organisations, and support patients and their families and carers.
The categories our Voluntary Services team have been nominated for are:
- Volunteer Manager Team of the year
- Volunteer to Career – Helen Steele
- Breaking Down Barriers - Aphasia Befrienders
Mandy Cleaver, Voluntary Services and Community Development Lead, said:
“We all know volunteers are playing an integral part in supporting our clinicians and staff by helping to deliver healthcare, in all its many aspects.
“It is brilliant to see that the team of SCFT Volunteers Managers have been shortlisted for an award as their superb skills are vital in keeping and retaining our volunteers, and for giving every volunteer a high-quality experience within SCFT.
“Our second shortlisted award goes to Helen Steele, who we have been fortunate to follow a ‘volunteer to career’ pathway and recognise Helen’s journey in joining SCFT and becoming a valued staff member.
“Finally, our last shortlisted award is our wonderful team of Aphasia Befrienders guided by staff member Kirsty Maguire, a Speech and Language Therapist within the CNRT Team. The outcomes from this role have been outstanding and include, for the service user and volunteer, an increased sense of purpose and pride in having a meaningful activity, and an increased confidence and self-esteem from giving and receiving.

Winners will be revealed on Helpforce’s website and social media channels on Monday 7 November 2022.
