Success at local NHS award ceremony

Our One Call One Team service, which provides a single point of access for urgent health referrals, run in partnership with other local organisations, has won the Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Leadership Collaborative award for outstanding collaborative leadership.

As part of this service we provide a multidisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, admission avoidance matrons and social workers who provide urgent care to patients at home with the aim of preventing hospital admission. In addition, we facilitate the One Call phone line which is the single point of access for all hospital and community urgent care services.

Tanya Brown-Griffiths, head of service, Coastal, SCT, said: “I am very proud of the whole team who work together to provide urgent care for patients in crisis. The service is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when multidisciplinary teams from a variety of organisations work hard to achieve a common goal – to help support patients in the comfort of their own home and help prevent hospital admission.”

Another member of our staff, Cara Mitchell, nurseries manager, was a runner-up finalist in the NHS Inspirational Leader of the Year award category. Cara manages our three children’s nurseries in Brighton, Hove and Crawley.

Vicky Simmonds, leadership development manager, SCT, said: “Cara is an enthusiastic, high achieving manager responsible for providing excellent childcare at our three children’s nurseries. She is an inspirational leader, passionate about the children and staff within her service and I’m very proud that she was a finalist for this award.”
