Sign up for a fun charity challenge

Date: 11 May 2022

The events season is imminent, and our charity is happy to announce that we have lots of exciting challenge events for you to get involved in.

Challenge events are a fantastic way to have fun, reach a personal goal and raise funds that will support our patients, staff and volunteers at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. Plus, it’s not all about running – you can walk or jog too.

First up in our calendar is Walk for Wards on 11 June 2022. Postponed from last year, we are uniting with NHS Charities in Sussex for this 5k or 10k challenge in which we invite you to walk, run or jog for Sussex Community NHS Charity. Taking place at the beautiful Glynde Place, it is set to be a fun, family-friendly day out in the glorious countryside.

The Brighton Trail Weekend follows on 26 June 2022. This is a chance for runners to get off the tarmac and onto nature’s track as you run through the magnificent South Downs National Park. With the race ending at Stanmer Park, you’re bound to have some keen supporters who are eager to come along and cheer you over the finish line.

10 July 2022 sees the running party that is the ASICS London 10K. On a flat course, this is the chance for you to run (or a run/dance fusion!) through London to a soundtrack of DJs and cheering supporters at every kilometre – described as ‘the ultimate street party’.

Do you love motorsports AND running? You can combine your passions at the Running GP taking place at Goodwood Motor Circuit! With event dates on 2 July and 25 September 2022, this is a unique opportunity to traverse the world-famous circuit, enjoying the smooth traffic-free tarmac track (making car noises while overtaking is optional). Run 5K, 10k, a Half Marathon or a full Marathon.

If plain old running isn’t your cup of tea, how about adding a few giant inflatable obstacles into the mix?! The Inflatable 5K, taking place on 6 August 2022 at Goodwood Racecourse, claims to be ‘bigger, bouncier and better’ than ever before – we’ll let you be the judge of that!

Fast-forward into 2023, the trusty Brighton Half Marathon returns on 26 February 2023. What is often referred to as ‘the happiest half’ due to its popularity and spectacular scenery, it’s a great event to reach your personal best while turning every step into support for our NHS.

If you still haven’t found the right event for you, then why not also check out the Ultra Challenge Series? With events up and down the country, and throughout the year, you have a choice of terrains – from peaceful countryside and sunny seaside to the buzz of the big smoke.

Already taking part in an event and keen to fundraise for Sussex Community NHS Charity? Get in touch with our friendly team and we will support you on your journey.

The money you raise will support projects that go above and beyond what core NHS funding provides. It could help fund additional equipment or diagnostic tools to enhance patient care, support a morale-boosting team building day for staff, provide essential goodies for patient discharge gift baskets or even brighten up a waiting area to improve patient experience.

We look forward to seeing you on the track!
