Sussex Community NHS Trust celebrates staff achievement

Celebrating achievement across the trust, awards were presented by trust chair Sue Sjuve and chief executive Paula Head to individual winners, and to staff for long service of 20, 30 and 40 years.

Achievement awards were presented in a number of categories:

  • Excellence in Customer Service Award (individual) – Jane Musiol, community matron, proactive care, Haywards Heath.
  • Excellence in Customer Service Award (team) – Diana Early, Erica Mills and Sue Rylands, podiatry receptionists, Littlehampton Health Centre.
  • Outstanding Commitment Award - Daniel Pressley, psychological therapist, Time to Talk, West Sussex.

  • Research and Innovation Award – Carers Health Team, West Sussex.
  • Volunteer Award – Jane Lawes, Macmillan Midhurst service.
  • Chair's Award – Kate Conlon, matron, Crawley Hospital.

Nearly 100 members of staff were rewarded for long service of 40, 30 or 20 years, and for the first time at this ceremony healthcare support workers (HCSW) were also recognised. More than 30 HCSWs and therapy technicians were presented with the award of care certificates.

Speaking at the event, trust chair Sue Sjuve said, “The quality of nominations this year is truly impressive, and it reflects what I see as I visit colleagues around the trust.

“It makes the judges’ job very difficult of course but it’s a high point of our year because it reminds us of all the fantastic work that our dedicated staff carry out day in day out.

“All the nominees were commended to us by their colleagues or patients, and every one of them should feel very proud of themselves and proud to part of the NHS.”

Shortlisting was carried out by a panel of judges including patient and staff side representatives, previous award winners, deputy board chair Stephen Lightfoot and Sue Sjuve.
