Run the Brighton Half Marathon for our charity

Date: 28 February 2021 to 27 June 2021

Time: 08:00 to 18:00

Are you up for the challenge of running the Brighton Half Marathon for a fantastic cause? Then why not stretch your legs on the streets of our seaside city to raise money for your local NHS?

Sussex Community NHS Charity, the official charity of Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, the specialist provider of community services in West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and High Weald Lewes Havens, has secured several places in the 27 June event - normally held in February but delayed this year due to the pandemic.

Runners just need to pledge to raise £200 for the charity, which will support projects to improve patient care and staff wellbeing that go above what core funding can provide.

Rosie Hemming, Sussex Community NHS Charity’s Community Fundraising Manager, said: “We need your help more than ever before.

“What better way to provide it than by running to raise money that will have a hugely positive impact on the lives of our patients, staff and volunteers.

“For £200, we could buy portable diagnostic equipment allowing a patient to be treated at home; purchase a tablet computer enabling an elderly person on a ward to chat to their family or friends; or even transform a room into a calming space where staff can relax on their breaks.”

All you have to do to take part in the 31st Brighton Half Marathon is email the charity at sc-tr.charity@nhs.net to say you would like to run the 13.1 miles and will raise at least £200.

As well as the opportunity to take part in one of the most popular events of its kind in the country, one that will take you past the bright lights of Palace Pier and the iconic ruins of West Pier, plus Hove’s colourful beach huts, the Royal Pavilion and British Airways i360, you will receive a Sussex Community NHS Charity running vest, a fundraising pack, and an invitation to join the Strava running club.

For those already training for the Virgin Money London Marathon, scheduled to be held on Sunday, 3 October 2021, a place in this year’s Brighton Half Marathon could be an ideal part of your preparations.

General registration for the event, which starts in Madeira Drive and offers sea views from 95 per cent of the course, is now closed, leaving charity places as the only way to enter.

To snap up a place to run for Sussex Community NHS Charity, please email the charity office at sc-tr.charity@nhs.net as soon as you can.
