Our FT progress gathers pace

The NHS Trust Development Authority (TDA) has endorsed our bid to become an NHS foundation trust (FT) and has put us forward for the next assessment phase.

The TDA’s role is to support NHS trusts on their journey to become FTs. Having passed their assessment we will now apply to the sector regulator Monitor for authorisation to become an FT.

Monitor will do this only if we meet their required standard following their own detailed assessment of our work. They have already started the process by which they will gather clear evidence that we can continue to deliver the highest standards of patient care and that we are a well-led trust with the right governance and financial arrangements to ensure a sustainable future.

As you know, we’ve already been able to provide evidence of the strength of our work, for example in achieving a Care Quality Commission rating of Good in March this year for the quality of care we deliver.

Our chief executive Paula Head said:I see a passion for continuous quality improvement day in day out across the trust. It’s this commitment on the part of our nurses, therapists, doctors, dentists and support staff that will drive us as we move into this exciting yet exacting phase in our FT development.

“In October 2015 we celebrate the fifth anniversary of SCT being established. Our teams can take pride in the progress we’ve made in such a short period of time and we all look forward with keen anticipation to this new phase of our future.”
