Half a million COVID-19 jabs given by SCFT vaccinators

Today SCFT reached a significant milestone in Sussex's vaccination efforts, as the 500,000th jab was given at SCFT's vaccination centres.

Since opening our first centre at the Brighton Centre on 25 January, closely followed by sites in Chichester, Eastbourne and Crawley, we have seen people from all different roles from across the organisation come together to support the vaccination programme in Sussex.

To mark this amazing milestone, Mike Jennings, our Deputy Chief Executive and Senior Responsible Officer for vaccination centres, has sent this special message to every single member of staff and volunteer who has made this possible.

From the people on the frontline working at the centres, to those behind the scenes making sure that everything is in place to get the centres operational and ensure that people know how to access their vaccination, this amazing feat could not have happened without them:

Our vaccination centres in numbers

  • 500,000 vaccinations
  • Five centres – Brighton, Chichester, Crawley, Eastbourne (and Etchingham, run in partnership with local GPs)
  • Centres open for 5,531 hours
  • More than 2,000 staff have worked 282,315 hours (so far!)
  • 40% of our vaccination centre staff previously worked in the travel industry
  • 1.5 vaccinations are given every minute across our centres, or 88 per hour
  • 823 volunteers have supported our vaccination centres, with amazing support from external organisations, including the Royal Voluntary Service
  • Volunteers have given more than 84,344 hours of their time so far

All SCFT vaccination centres are now offering walk in sessions alongside booked appointments. See our vaccination centre page for more information.
