Sussex Community NHS Trust’s members’ newsletter sent to 5,000 members

Sussex Community NHS Trust’s (SCT) latest members’ newsletter, FT Focus, is out now. It features details of the recently elected governors and news from around the trust.

The newsletter is sent to all of the trust’s 5000 members, by post or email, as part of SCT’s preparations for becoming a foundation trust (FT).

The public governors represent geographical areas: Adur; Arun; Brighton & Hove; Chichester; Crawley; Horsham; Mid Sussex; Worthing and ‘out of area’. Staff governors represent different employee groups: nurses; doctors & dentists; therapists, allied health professionals & healthcare assistants and support staff.

In the coming months the new governors will have a thorough induction programme ahead of the first formal meeting of the new council in March 2016. Members of the trust and the public will be welcome to observe meetings and there will be space on every agenda to ask questions.

Meanwhile the foundation trust regulator Monitor has begun its assessment process. Should all go according to plan, and subject to the outcome of the board-to-board meeting between SCT and Monitor scheduled for January 2016, Monitor should be able to confirm SCT’s FT status by 1 March.

Trust chair Sue Sjuve said, “This newsletter marks a really important step in our journey to becoming an NHS foundation trust (FT). I’m extremely pleased to welcome our new council of governors, they bring a wealth of experience, local knowledge and passion for NHS community services and I look forward to working with them all.”
