Celebrating our West Sussex children’s community nursing staff

L to R: Gill Cunningham team leader West; Trudy Ward, head of children’s community nursing; Sue Giddings, deputy chief nurse, Julie Kennedy children’s continence administrator; Phil Portway CYP palliative care counsellor; Jane Evans children’s community palliative care nurse specialist, Lois Pendlebury CCN matron and Lisa Ford interim team leader South.

Last month our West Sussex children’s community nursing service held their annual away day at Pulborough Village Hall which included an award ceremony and five nurses were presented with awards.

Staff in the children’s community nursing teams in West Sussex nominated their colleagues in four categories (reflecting our trust values): compassionate care; working together; achieving ambitions and delivering excellence.

There were 40 nominations and the award judges had the tricky task of selecting the winners from the very high standard of nominations made.

Sue Giddings, deputy chief nurse, childrens and specialist services, presented certificates to the award winners and Trudy Ward head of children’s community nursing, said “It was fantastic to be able to celebrate what the children’s community nursing service are doing well and share examples of excellent practice by teams across the trust.”
