Celebrating 10 years of Breastfeeding Peer Support in Brighton and Hove

On Friday (13 July) Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) celebrated 10 years of breastfeeding Peer Support in Brighton and Hove. The event was held at The Great Hall in Moulscoomb and was well attended by Public Health Children’s Commissioners, Public Health consultants, West Sussex Infant Feeding Team, partners Mum-Mum Breastfeeding support organisations (NCT) and colleagues from right across SCFT and Brighton and Sussex University Hospital.

The event was an opportunity to highlight how partnership working and support offered to families have contributed to higher breastfeeding rates in the city.

Susan Marshall, Chief Nurse said: "It was excellent to see so many breast feeding peer support volunteers at this event who provide such a valuable service.

"Breastfeeding provides the best start in life for a new born and the support the volunteers offer, working in partnership with staff and parents, helps to increase the breastfeeding rates and ensure we are one of the highest performers within Brighton and Hove when compared nationally."
