Appointment of new Chief Digital and Technology Officer

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) is delighted to announce the appointment of Diarmaid Crean as its new Chief Digital and Technology Officer. He started in his role yesterday.

For the last 5 years Diarmaid has been the digital lead at Public Health England. Whilst there he was responsible for bringing in new ways of working and helping the organisation adopt a service design approach. These services included FoodSmart app, Couch to 5k, London GoodThinking,  Health Checks, NHS Apps library, NHS.UK, GOV.uk and many many more. Prior to that he has worked in the private sector delivering digital transformation in number of organisations for 25 years.

Diarmaid grew up on the South Coast (Hampshire) and has lived in Hove with his wife and three boys for 10 years.

The appointment was made following a rigorous process involving a high quality field of external candidates.

Siobhan Melia, Chief Executive, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust said: “I know Diarmaid will bring a lot of energy to the Trust to help us all maximise the use of technology to improve the services we offer to the  people we support.”
