Step into the NHS - supporting young adults into NHS careers

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) has partnered with the Prince's Trust to help support young adults into work.

The Step into the NHS programme sees 18-30 year-old take on work placements in a variety of NHS roles.

For three-weeks the participants have shadowed NHS workers, had training in a range of skills and learned about what working life is like in the NHS.

A number of SCFT teams took on people during the shadowing part of the programme. The communications, estates, finance, administrative, HR and nursery teams all hosted people from the programme.

Siobhan Melia, Chief Executive at SCFT said: "I’m thrilled that they and our teams got so much out of it.

"Our Twitter account was ‘taken over’ this week by Joao, who spent his placement learning about some of our clinical teams and what life is like at an NHS Foundation Trust.

"I was privileged to be able to talk to the group at the start of the programme and I hope that they seriously consider a career in the NHS.

"I am very proud that our organisation is part of this fantastic programme."
