Opening of new landscaped garden by mayor at Bognor Hospital

A new landscaped garden at the entrance of Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital has been unveiled by the mayor. The garden includes locally sourced ornamental grasses, which in time will grow up to three and six foot high. The appearance at the entrance of the hospital has been vastly improved and the garden has been designed to be low maintenance. The garden has been possible through a £40,000 donation made by local people through The Bognor Regis Friends of the Hospitals.

The grand opening was attended by Phil Woodhall, mayor of Bognor; Brian Knight, chairman of the Friends; the landscape gardener Oliver Dearling from ChicGardens; members of the Friends, staff from Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust and the local NHS, volunteers and members of the local community. After the opening people enjoyed cake and tea in Marion’s Restaurant at the hospital.

Brian Knight, chairman of the Friends said: “The Bognor Regis Friends of the Hospitals are delighted in supporting improvements at the hospital to enhance both patient and staff experience. The new landscaped garden provides a welcoming environment and positive first impression when you arrive at the hospital.”

Thanks go to Oliver Dearling from ChicGardens who created the landscape garden for people to now enjoy.
