News about the Brighton General Hospital site

You may have seen in Thursday’s and today’s local news or heard on the radio that Brighton and Hove City Council has announced that the Brighton General Hospital site is its preferred site for a new secondary school.

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT), owner of the Brighton General Hospital site, is currently undertaking a viability study of the site. SCFT’s primary focus is to look at providing new, fit for purpose accommodation for the NHS so we can continue to provide a community health and care facility on-site.

Please note that SCFT is at the conversation stage with Brighton and Hove City Council about the possibility that a new secondary school could form part of the existing Brighton General Hospital site.

No final decisions have yet been made. Any decisions made about the future of the site are not expected to be made until Spring/Summer 2018.

We will continue to engage with staff, stakeholders and the wider community throughout the next stages of the project.
