Our Midhurst Macmillan Community Specialist Care Service are runners up at the national Quality in Care Oncology Awards

Well done to our Midhurst Macmillan Community Specialist Care Service who were commended at Tuesday’s national Quality in Care (QiC) Oncology Awards for the category 'End of life care and bereavement'.

The service was set up in 2006 as a consultant-led multi-disciplinary team providing ‘hands on’ care and advice at home, in community hospitals and in nursing/residential homes seven days a week. They provide specialist clinical interventions in the community such as blood product transfusions, parenteral treatments, IV antibiotics and biphosphates, fluids, paracentesis, ultrasound and intrathecal analgesia.

Dr Catherine Waight, Clinical Director said: "“I’m really proud that our service has been recognised at the QiC Awards and we were commended for our end of life care and bereavement support. I would like to thank our team who work hard to provide excellent palliative care in the community.”

The judges’ said “A well-established programme that showed longevity.”
