Coasting Together raise over £600 to improve patient experience for users of Sussex Rehabilitation Centre

Dr Tom Farsides, friend and colleague of the late Dr Sue Eckstein and user of Sussex Rehabilitation Centre (SRC), raised £612 by running the Boston Marathon in April. The money will be used to provide a Wi-Fi facility to help improve patient experience for users of SRC, provided by Sussex Community NHS Trust.

Coasting Together, the support group for people who use SRC including amputees and people who need a wheelchair to improve mobility, handed the cheque to SRC earlier this week.

SRC based at Brighton General Hospital provides artificial limb and other rehabilitation services to people living in Sussex. Ann Dyson, service manager, said “This is a lovely tribute to Sue and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Tom. The installation of Wi-Fi in the waiting room will benefit many patients, carers and their families whilst they are at the centre receiving treatment and it is very fitting that Sue was part of making this happen.”

Coasting Together said “We are very grateful to Tom in raising this money in memory of Sue and to help improve the experience people receive from SRC. Installation of Wi-Fi was very dear to Sue’s heart and something she had been championing. It’s a fitting memory of Sue and an appropriate way to spend money raised in her name.”
