Sussex Community Carers Health Team shortlisted for National NHS Parliamentary Awards and announced as regional winners

We are delighted to announce that our fantastic Carers Health Team have been selected as regional winners and shortlisted for a national NHS parliamentary Award in the Care and Compassion category.

Last year, as part of the 70 Years of the NHS Celebrations, over 250 Members of Parliament nominated an individual or organisation for an award. This year, the awards were continued and more MPs were encouraged to get involved to show their local NHS staff, volunteers and carers what they mean to them and the communities they serve each day.

Our Carers Health Team, who have supported approximately 5,000 informal carers throughout West Sussex, make a real difference to the local community. They help to engage informal carers who often put their own needs aside. The team focusses on providing informal carers with clinical assessments of their own health needs, helping to recognise and maintain these whilst being in a caring role. The team and organisation are dedicated to ensuring that the health and wellbeing of informal carers is promoted and that they are treated with care and compassion.

The team were nominated by four MPs: Sir Peter Bottomley MP, RT Hone Nick Gibb MP, Gillian Keegan MP and RT Hon Sir Nicholas Soames MP.

RT Hon Nick Gibb MP said:
