Public Governor - Brighton & Hove

Stan is one of three Public Governors at Sussex Community. The role of a governor includes a number of tasks including to represent the interests of the members of the Trust as a whole, and also the interests of the public.

Stan's drive is to ensure the patient and public voice is heard to help improve services. As well as a governor, Stan is a member of our Expert Patients Programme, our Trustwide Patient Experience Group and a member of the MSK Patient Forum. Stan himself has lived with long-term conditions for a number of years.

Outside of Sussex Community Stan is chair of the Patient Participation Group (PPG Network) run by NHS Brighton & Hove Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and in July will also become Lay Member for pharmacy with the CCG. Stan also has links with the local Cruise charity which helps people with bereavement. He also gives talks about living with diabetes across Sussex and with the University of Brighton.

What Stan says about the NHS

"The NHS is a national treasure. Everyone is treated as an individual. Staff do a fantastic job although I feel the NHS needs more investment to maintain high quality services. Long may it continue to be free at the point of delivery.

"Sussex Community is a great local provider of NHS community care. The recent CQC inspection confirms that the local health and care system is working together to provide the best care and outcomes to patients."

Celebrating NHS70

Stan has organised a coffee morning at his house with over 70 people attending.
