Wheelchair Administrator Sussex Rehabilitation Centre

I joined SCFT in November 2017, before I worked for Sussex police as an administrator for 16 years. My journey started in this hospital 55 years ago - I was born in Brighton General and my birthday is the 6th July which is the day after the NHS 70 birthday! My mother worked here as an auxiliary nurse at Brighton general when I was born.

I think the NHS is a marvellous service. We’re famous for NHS in this country and everyone wants something like it. Working from the inside, I’m so impressed with the people I work with and the services they offer. I never knew there was so much to learn about the wheelchair service and what they offer to people. I didn’t know much about wheelchairs when I started, and now when I see what they can do for people by adjusting it for someone's individual needs - I think it’s fantastic. The dedication of the staff in this department really is second to none.

My NHS hero has to be my mum who worked for the NHS for 40 years. She was proud of the NHS and she had her long service award with her special pen and photograph which now sits on my piano at home!
