Martin John Ensom
Deputy Lead Governor

I have lived in Sussex for 36 years and have experienced the Trusts services.

I believe passionately in the principle that services should be free at the point of delivery and have considerable concerns about creeping privatisation. I also have real worries about the lack of funding needed to cater for an ever ageing population with increasing complex needs. I understand the need to prioritise different aspects of the work of the Trust and welcome the opportunity to influence its work.

I am a qualified social worker, recently retired, having spent most of my working career in charities, mainly in the care and support sector, particularly supporting disabled people, at senior director level, including being a CEO of a medium sized charity, with experience of both working with governing boards and as a trustee. I was a school governor for special needs children for over 20 years, including chairing the board and finance committee. I am currently a trustee of a large charity pension scheme.

I would like to think I would represent our community in this important role well and would welcome hearing from anyone with thoughts about the NHS generally and the Trust in particular.
