Who we are
NHS West Sussex Talking Therapies is not a crisis service and we are not able to provide crisis support. If you are in crisis and need urgent support please contact one of the following services:
- The Samaritans: Telephone 116 123 (24 hour phone line)
- NHS 111 and select the mental health option to be connected to a 24/7 mental health crisis line
- text SUSSEX to 85258. This free, confidential, anonymous text support service is available at all times and is run by trained volunteers
- your local A&E department
- Stay Alive App
- your GP, and request an urgent appointment
NHS West Sussex Talking Therapies is part of the NHS Talking Therapies, for anxiety and depression programme.
Our friendly therapists provide a range of talking therapies and other treatments for adults aged 18 and above living in West Sussex who have mild to moderate anxiety and depression. We also help people with a number of other mental health conditions.
Our service also has a long-term health conditions team who provide specialist mental health support for people struggling to cope with diabetes, severe asthma, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), heart conditions, musculoskeletal problems, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and long Covid.
What we do
We are here to help adults suffering with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and provide a range of talking therapies and other treatments.
For those struggling to cope with diabetes, severe asthma, IBS, heart conditions, musculoskeletal problems, COPD and long Covid, we offer specialist mental health support.

Where your appointment will be
Many of our appointments take place online and on the phone. If you have a face-to-face appointment, we offer a choice of clinics across West Sussex.
How can I access this service?
If you are an adult aged 18 and above and are registered with a GP in West Sussex, you are eligible to access our service. You can do this by speaking to your GP or health-care provider or via self-referral through our website. You can also self-refer over the phone.

We will work with you to find a time and place that is convenient for you.
Opening hours
Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:45pm. We have individual and group appointments from Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:45pm. We are closed on weekends and bank holidays.
Waiting times
Waiting times vary from location to location. At each clinic, referrals are triaged and prioritised according to clinical risk.
