Our team comprises doctors, emergency nurse practitioners, paramedic practitioners, and experienced healthcare professionals.
We are a walk-in centre providing assessment and treatment for minor injuries or illnesses.
What we do
We assess and treat patients with any minor injuries or illnesses that are urgent but not life-threatening.
Following assessment, we may need to refer you to A&E, a specialist team or follow-up with your GP.
We do not offer diagnostics e.g. bloods, ultrasound or non-urgent x-rays. Your GP will be asked to follow-up on any tests that we run as part of your assessment, and this is something we will communicate with them.
At the weekend, X-ray is only available at Uckfield Minor Injury Unit. If you attend Lewes on a weekend and require an X-ray, you will be asked to travel to an alternative site for this.

Who you'll see at your appointment
Once you have booked in with the receptionist, a practitioner will complete your clinical assessment and agree on the next steps with you.
Preparing for your appointment
Once you are booked in with the receptionist, you will wait to be triaged. During triage, a clinical assessment will be completed, and our practitioner will agree on the next steps to be taken with you. You could be treated within the unit, given self-care advice, signposted, or referred to another healthcare provider.
What happens after my treatment or therapy plan ends?
The majority of patients will be assessed, treated, and discharged during their visit. Treatment summaries and any follow-up advice or treatment are shared with the patient's GP.
If you require an X-ray but attend outside the X-ray department's opening hours, you may be asked to return when the department is open again.
If you attend with an illness or injury which the team is unable to treat, you will be referred or directed to the most appropriate provider.

How can I access this service?
We accept referrals from the NHS 111 helpline. We have a walk-in service for patients wishing to self-refer, however we encourage you to call NHS 111 in the first instance.
