Prosthetic Service at Sussex Rehabilitation Centre Brighton (SRCB)

The out-patient service, based at the Sussex Rehabilitation Centre at Brighton General Hospital, provides a prosthetic limb service to amputees and people with congenital limb loss. In addition it deals with pain management, wound healing and health screening to prevent further limb loss and carries out maintenance and repair of artificial limbs. It also provides orthotic (surgical) appliances where necessary.Prosthetic limb in-patient beds are available at the Sussex Rehabilitation Centre, Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath.The purpose of the service is to enable patients with upper and lower limb loss to achieve and sustain maximum possible mobility, dexterity and independence, including the ability to work and care for their families.

How To Access

Amputees are referred to the service by the surgeons who carried out their amputation or by their GPs. They use a pre-printed referral form which states all the information the service needs to register patients and to book an assessment. Patients who want to come for a pre-amputation visit can ask their doctor to refer them to the Centre by telephone or in writing. They can also arrange a visit themselves on telephone number 01273 242160.The service is for patients who have had an amputation or a congenital limb anomaly and who live in East and West Sussex and parts of Surrey and Kent. The service sees patients of all ages.
