How To Access

Parents and carers can ask any health professional who knows their child to complete a referral form and send it in to the Child Development team.

Usually the GP, School Nurse or Health Visitor will refer a child, with the parents’ permission. We can arrange for an interpreter or translator to attend the appointment, if required, provided prior notice has been received. Our department is in a public area and we would ask that you kindly supervise your children at all times during your visit. We link closely with a wide range of other teams and agencies in the area who work with children and families to support children’s needs.

All information given will be treated as confidential, however it is normal practice for staff at the Child Development Centre to share information with professional colleagues who may be able to assist in the correct advice for your child. If you do not wish this to happen, please let us know. If you child needs urgent medical attention, you should contact your GP, ring NHS Direct on 0845 4647 or dial 999 in an emergency.
