After having teeth removed please let the area heal and try not to touch it or fiddle with it.

Rinsing

Please do not rinse for 24 hours. On the next day, rinse with warm water and salt (1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of water).

Do this 2 to 3 times a day.

This will help with healing.

You only need to do this for a couple of days.

Pain

If you feel any pain take regular painkillers (not aspirin).

If you are still in a lot of pain after 24 hours of the treatment, please contact the dentist or doctor.

Ask your carer to help you with this.

Bleeding

After treatment you might have some bleeding, if so put a handkerchief or pack provided on the area and bite on it for 20 minutes.

Repeat if necessary.

If bleeding has not stopped then contact the dentist.

Work

Rest for the rest of the day and don't do too much heavy exercise. If you are worried about this then please ask your dentist for advice.

Food

Please avoid hot food and hot drinks.

Cold food and drinks only.

Avoid drinking alcohol.

Avoid chewy and small foods like rice.

Smoking

If you are a smoker, avoid smoking for 24 hours after extraction treatment.

Smoking can cause an infection.
